"A hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove. But the world may be different because I was important in the life of a Child" ~ Anonymous

"I was a little nervous before I started teaching because I have never taught anything in a formal classroom environment. I think it took me about a week to feel comfortable with the process of teaching. The students were very helpful and easy to work with. They made this new experience very positive."
I am from California in the United States. I found Slukat through Facebook and Google. I graduated from college 4 years ago, and am now working. I am doing this volunteer work on my vacation time.
I have never done any type of volunteer work while traveling and thought it would be a good way to experience a different style of traveling from the standard tourist experience. Slukat seemed to be a well run organization with a good mission so I decided to volunteer. I was initially planning to volunteer for 3 weeks, but I have extended my time by 1 week to make 4 weeks total.
The students are very good, they are very eager to learn, and are very enthusiastic. It is very rewarding to see them understand a new concept or word.
